Monday –

Section 1, “The Northern Tropics”  pages 267-271

vocabulary:  mulatto, bauxite, llano, cordillera, campesino

Students will learn that the countries along South America’s northern coast have distinctive cultures, physical characteristics, and economies.

Tuesday –

Section 2, “The Andean Countries”  pages 272-276

Students will learn that the physical characteristics of the Andes affect cultural patterns and economic activities in this region.

Section 3, “The Southern Grassland Countries”  pages 278-281

vocabulary:  estuary, piedmont, pampas, gaucho

Students will learn that Paraguay, Uruguay, and Argentina have developed prosperous economies, despite histories of political troubles.

Thursday –

*Map Test over Latin America

Chapter 13 Review, pages 282-283.  Students will work in small groups discussing and answering questions over the South American countries.

 

Friday –

Students will go to the PLATO Lab to research Western European countries which will be our next unit starting the following Monday.
