Chapter 7 – Regions of the United States

 

Monday –

Section 1, “The Northeast”  pages 157-160

vocabulary:  megalopolis

Students will learn that over time, the Northeast has developed into a major commercial center of the world.

 

Tuesday –

Section 2, “The South”  pages 161-166

vocabulary:  mangrove, bayou, fall line, Sunbelt

Students will learn that the warm climate and abundant natural resources of the South continue to attract people and industry.

 

Wednesday –

Section 3, “The Midwest” pages 167-170

vocabulary:  humus, growing season, grain elevator, grain exchange

Students will learn that agriculture, manufacturing, and transportation form the backbone of the Midwestern economy.

Section 4, “The West”  pages 172-175

vocabulary:  tundra, aqueduct

Students will learn that the availability and distribution of natural resources affect where people live and work in the West.

 

Thursday –

Chapter 7 Review and Assessment, pages 176-177

Students will work in small groups discussing questions over chapter 7.

 

Friday –

Chapter 7 Test – (Map Test over the 50 States)

Preview Chapter 8 – Canada

Map over Canada
