Chapter 4 – Resources and Land Use

 

Monday –

Section 1, “World Resources” pages 109-111

vocabulary:  natural resource, renewable resource, nonrenewable resource, fossil fuel, nuclear energy, water power, geothermal energy, solar energy

Students will learn that natural resources such as fossil fuels and other energy sources, are unevenly distributed throughout the world.

Tuesday –

Section 2, “World Economic Activity” pages 115-119

vocabulary:  primary economic activity, subsistence farming, commercial farming, secondary economic activity, cottage industry, commercial industry, tertiary economic activity, quaternary economic activity, export, import

Students will learn that technology and resource distribution affect economic activities and trade patterns, which, in turn, affect level of development.

Thursday –

Friday –

How the States Got Their Shapes film:

“A River Runs Through It”

Students will learn how natural boundaries help to shape our states borders and the history of how they were shaped.
