Week of September 16th

Monday –

Chapter 3, Section 1 – “The Study of Human Geography” pages 87-98

vocabulary:  culture, population density, birthrate, immigrant, emigrant, urbanization, rural, culture hearth, cultural convergence, diffusion, cultural divergence

Students will learn that the study of human geography focuses on a number of population topics, as well as many cultural topics.

 

Tuesday –

Chapter 3, Section 2 – “Political and Economic Systems” pages 100-105

vocabulary:  sovereignty, unitary system, federation, confederation, authoritarian, dictatorship, totalitarianism, monarchy, democracy, traditional economy, market economy, command economy

Students will learn that the world’s countries have a variety of government  and economic systems based on differing philosophies.

 

Wednesday –

PLATO Lab – Students will research different religions, governments, and economies around the world to help better understand the differences of each.

 

Thursday –

Chapter 3 Review and Assessment, pages 106-107

Students will work in groups reviewing and discussing religion, government, and economies.

 

Friday –

Chapter 3 Test

Preview Chapter 4, Section 1, “World Resources”
