Review Classroom Guidelines / Expectations

Unit 5 Preview (Chapter 18) – “Central Europe and Northern Eurasia”  pages 370-385

Chapter 19, Section 1 – “Poland”  pages 389-391

vocabulary:  national identity, ghetto, Holocaust

Students will learn that despite political hardships in the past, the Polish people have maintained their national identity.

 

Tuesday –

Section 2, “The Czech and Slovak Republics, and Hungary”  pages 393-397

vocabulary:  velvet revolution, collective farm, privatization

Students will learn that formerly under Communist control, the Czech and Slovak Republics and Hungary face new challenges.

Students will learn that the geography of the Balkans has isolated its people into small and often hostile political and ethnic groups.
